Our mission at the Marjorie Younce Snook Public Library is to add to the collection, books, computers, and other materials needed to enrich the individual and group life of the community and to organize and make available the resources so that they are convenient and easy to use.  In order to fulfill our mission the library will seek to serve as follows:

            1. to include in the book collections books that will answer the serious

needs of the adult to further his education, to complete desired

research, to meet personal needs and to provide hours of recreation

            2. to help the adult make better use of the books and materials at hand

by offering individual guidance in an effort to bring books and readers

                 together

            3. to encourage such community activities as adult discussion groups,

adult education and services to organizations

            4. to encourage the accumulation and preservation of items of local

                 history

            5. to provide microfilm and other materials for genealogical research

            6. to provide books of lasting value rather than those of ephemeral worth

                 and to encourage their use

            7. to provide the best books and other materials available to supplement

                 the young adult's formal education

            8. to provide the best books and other materials in the field of children's

literature and to encourage children to grow in their reading habits

            9. to sponsor reading inducement programs that will stimulate reading

          10. to provide special library hours for storytelling for children as well as

                 programs for adults

          11. to provide computers with personal, educational and business

programs designed for adults and children including the Alabama

Virtual Library and Homework Alabama as well as the Internet.
