The Marjorie Younce
Snook Public Library encourages children of all ages to visit the library with their parents to take advantage of the
resources available for them to meet their informational, recreational, cultural, and educational needs. The responsibility
for the child’s health, safety, and behavior at the library resides with the parent or responsible caregiver. Library
staff is not responsible for the supervision of children visiting the library. This policy applies to children of all ages
who visit the library.
Children
age 7 and under should be in the immediate presence of a parent or other responsible caregiver at all times while
on library property. Children age 8 to 9 should have a parent or responsible caregiver within the library building
at all times. For the purpose of this policy, a responsible caregiver is the child’s parent, guardian or a
responsible person 16 years of age or older.
All children must be picked up by the library’s closing time. If the child is not picked up by closing time, the Summerdale
Police will be notified. Library staff will stay with the child until the police arrive. Under no circumstance will staff
take children home.
In case of a medical emergency, library staff will call 911.
The
Library Board of the Town of Summerdale reserves the right to alter this policy without prior notice.
