On June 23 blind artist Ricky Trione visited the library
and shared his inspirational story of overcoming blindness and becoming an artist. He demonstrated how he has learned
to draw and paint by feel, using textured paints. After sharing his story Ricky had a workshop from 10:30 to
11:00 for children 8 years old and younger and from 11:00 to 11:30 for children 9 years old and older. Ricky encourages everyone
to focus on abilities and not disabilities. His hope is to inspire and motivate people to overcome the fear
of failure or of making mistakes and strive to view life as a daring adventure. Norma Giles was our featured reader and
we had hot dogs, chips and drinks for refreshments.
